Raw edge cropped jeans. Jogger sweats pulled up slightly at the ankle. Cuffed menswear-style pants.
No matter how you’re wearing the pants right now (and let’s be honest, you always wear the pants), chances are your ankle is exposed. Shorter hemlines on trendy pants have created the perfect opportunity for eye-catching high top sneakers.
Currently I have four pairs on rotation, each getting lots of time in the game. For the sake of space, I’ll write about them in two posts.
First is my most recently purchased pair of Golden Goose sneakers, the Francy. I couldn’t resist these because of the military green color (contrasted with Golden Goose’s signature star) and the utilitarian look of the canvas material. It’s as if these high tops are made to go with rolled up jeans.
The Francy sneakers look effortlessly cool with the laces untied and slide on and off easily because of the side zipper.
My second pick is an easy summer staple: white Vans Sk8-Hi Tops. Reasonably priced and easy to wear with shorts, skirts and dresses, these are an easy choice for summer high tops. I often throw them on with my Aviator Nation sweatpants to make a coffee run or do a few errands.
Plus, at less than $100, these are the perfect white sneakers to buy because when they inevitably get scuffs (or, equally as likely, you spill red wine on them), you haven’t ruined an expensive pair of sneakers.
