After a red-eye flight from LA, then a two hour drive home from Dulles airport, I arrived home to find a major Dreambox sitting on my front porch. It evoked a feeling similar to coming home to a bouquet of red roses after a trying day at work (though I’m not sure that’s ever happened to me, but it sounds fabulous). Inside the box were my new St. Laurent Court Classic sneakers in Washed Pink that I ordered from Nordstrom because they had one size left and it was MY SIZE and they were on sale. Fate had intervened!
St. Laurent is the stuff dreams are made of. If YSL heels evoke fantasies of a love affair in Paris (or something equally romantic and slightly dangerous), then the sneakers are meant for walking home the next morning. Sexy and playful with a dash of rebelliousness, these shoes are fashionable and comfortable. Exactly what you want waiting for you on your front porch when you arrive home from 10 hours of traveling.
The fall/winter collection of St. Laurent sneakers is on point. I’m coveting three pairs to add to my shoe closet. First is the Court Classic S/L06 California Sneaker. Blue metallic star patches pop against the black suede body. I love the black laces and the distressed soles. I want to wear these with lightweight black pants or destroyed black jeans and an oversized cropped tee.
The second pair is the Joe’s Mid Top Sneaker with “Smoking Forever” written across the soles. The color is described as “Used White.” There’s nothing I love more right now than sneakers that look worn in when they arrive. It saves us, the wearers, from kicking ourselves when we get the first scuff mark on a new pair of white shoes. The Joe’s Mid Tops come with pins affixed, a huge trend that’s fun and draws the eye. The “Smoking Forever” text is what sells me on these shoes, though. There are so many interpretations of these two words. Choose one and rock it.
Third is the simple, off-white Court Classic SL/39 Platform sneaker. Most brands have a plain white sneaker option, and rarely do I like it. But this shoe is less bulky than some of the others and looks effortless. I like the contrasting cream soles and can picture wearing these with cropped raw hem jeans and a light weight sweater well into the fall.
